Interspected's Mission

This is a home for non-traditional artist writings. It strives to be a laboratory for creative thinking and collaboration for the art and writing community where artists, writers, and curators can re-express their ideas in unconventional and interdisciplinary ways, whether it be through text art, artist's statements, reviews, creative writing, autobiography, academic essays, or other literary experimentations. It is a place where artists of all kinds can envision and formulate themselves as historians, poets, and scientists, or vice versa, and learn from one another's creative processes.

Fine arts today, post-internet, post-globalization, is more interdisciplinary than ever. Yet although art itself may have exploded into new territories, the venues for non-traditional explorations of languageart have declined. As the standards and qualities of art have changed, artists are more and more articulating through language the ways in which cross-conceptualization informs and deepens their own practice, their broader understanding of art, and how that understanding of art relates to other seemingly unrelated modes of thinking and being in our world. These ideas are manifested through a wide variety of text following from non-traditional lineages in artwriting.

We hope you join us in supporting a platform for this thriving current of the art community.
